Dr. Elisa Tso Bomgaars

Elisa Bomgaars, MD

The physicians and staff of Oncology Associates would like to thank oncologist Dr. Elisa Bomgaars for her many years of excellent service and compassionate care towards our cancer patients.

We wish her all the best in her new position and know that her new patients will be receiving the best of care. We will miss her.

Dr. Elisa Bomgaars is originally from China and grew up in the Philippines. While she is at home in the kitchen, she can just as easily be spotted at the golf links around Omaha, reading a good book or hopping a plane for travel.

We can thank her childhood pediatrician for first inspiring Dr. Bomgaars to become an oncologist. Her work ethic came from her father who owned a small business in China making and selling t-shirts. It was from him, too, that she gained a passion for community service. She says, “He has a street named after him in a province in China for his community service.” Her Fellowship Director, too, has been a lasting influence.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines in Manila and did her Internal Medicine Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. That’s also where she did a Hematology and Oncology Fellowship.  In addition to her knowledge and skill, Dr. Bomgaars brings deep compassion to her practice. “My greatest satisfaction is helping my patients survive cancer and getting to know them on a personal level.”

Here’s something you might never guess about Dr. Bomgaars:  She’s a great cook! “I make a delicious Chinese fried rice dish with rice, shrimp, pork or beef, and eggs!” And every now and then, you just may find a tasty new dish on Dr. Bomgaars’ recipes page!

“She’s there for you. She’s not only your doctor, but she’s there for you as a friend. I wanted someone who was going to be honest with me, who just didn’t hem and haw around, saying “maybe you should do this, maybe you should do that.”  She listens to you and she’s always looking for another way to help you.”
